Layering lets you have it all! Texture and color, dressy or casual, dainty or bold. With the right pieces in your necklace collection and our guide to layering, you can build your own look that works for all occasions and seasons!

Sarah recommends three ways to layer that can be adapted for different necklines and outfits.

1. THE STACK

Two or more necklaces of the same length, but different textures. These can be different chain styles, or a chain(s) mixed with a gemstone or pearl necklace. The resulting look is effortlessly chic.

Suggested pairings: Charleston & Bloom; Savannah & Cordelia; Joey & Wheat

2. THE PERFECT PAIRING.

Two necklaces in slightly different lengths. Start with a shorter necklace–about 16-18 inches–and add a slightly longer necklace (about 18-22 inches). Want to add another necklace to the mix? Stack a second 16-18 inch necklace to add interest while still letting the longer necklace shine as the focal point. This combination fills the décolletage perfectly and works with a variety of necklines. If the longer necklace has a pendant, it’s less likely to tangle and adds a bit of extra visual interest.

Suggested pairings: Bloom & Ross; Charleston & Sarah; Lynda & Ross

3. THE FINISHING TOUCH.

Two necklaces with very different lengths. The shorter necklace can be 16-20 inches (choose one that fits your neckline), then add a much longer necklace–we recommend 28-32 inches. This look works beautifully with casual crew necks and sweaters, as well as adding a polished look to single-tone dresses.

Suggested pairings: Savannah & Castile; Herringbone & Jonas; Wheat & 36-inch Linen Necklace
