Are you free the weekend of September 10-11th? If so, come join as at the 25th Annual Doylestown Arts Festival!
The Doylestown Arts Festival has been a celebration of the considerable arts community in the area since 1991. As such, Sarah Cornwell Jewelry has attended the festival for 5 years in a row! It is one of our favorite events to attend, because it is located in the town we grew up in. For us, attending this festival is one of the ways we like to show our hometown pride and our support for other local artists. We love to see the familiar faces of friends and family, as well as new ones we hope to get to know!
This year, we hope you can come and join the fun! The festival is a great way to kick off the fall season and enjoy the last few days of warm weather. Celebrate with your family and friends, enjoy food, live music, and the work of 160 artists (us being one of them)!
If you do decide to come, make sure to stop by our booth and say hello! We are Booth #28, which is located on State Street near the Doylestown Inn and main festival food court.

One of the most popular questions we receive from customers is,” How do I safely clean my jewelry?” So, we went ahead and created a video that takes you step-by-step through 2 ways to properly clean your jewelry, including how to clean pieces with gemstones and freshwater pearls. Both of the ways we show are completely safe and should leave your pieces sparkling and clean.
Option #1: Wipes/Pads
Safely used on? Sterling Silver and 14k Gold (best used on stamped charms and other metal charms)
Where to buy? Wipes
Option #2: Jewel Brite
Safely used on? Freshwater Pearls, Natural Gemstones, Sterling Silver & 14k Gold
Where to buy? Jewel Brite
When you’re not wearing your jewelry, keep it in a sealed bag or jewelry box to keep it away from oxygen (this with help to prevent tarnishing).
We hope you enjoyed our first Youtube tutorial! If you have any questions or suggestions for future videos, please comment below!

If you have taken a stroll through the streets of Doylestown, PA lately, you may have noticed a lovely boutique called Lotus. The shop sits conveniently on East State Street, right next to Nonno’s Coffee Parlor. Recently, those of us at SCJ had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with the owner of Lotus, Erin McLaughlin, on the photo shoot of our Spring/Summer 2016 jewelry collection. Erin helped showcase the jewelry, by kindly providing the clothing for our models, as well as styling them. We just fell in love with her shop, and Erin was so enjoyable to work with that we felt it only appropriate to introduce her to you!
Erin opened Lotus Apparel & Home about 3 and half years ago, after working in retail for over 20 years, as a manager and buyer. Her experience was gained in the same retail space where Lotus is located today. When the previous owner decided to close up shop, Erin saw it as the perfect opportunity to open a shop of her very own.
The inspiration for her career choice came from watching her mother while growing up, who is an avid lover of fashion and has always had a great sense of style. As one of 7 children, the middle of 5 girls, Erin looked to fashion as a way to express her individuality. Her personal style, which she describes as a, “mix of edgy and feminine with a bit of bohemian,” can definitely be seen reflected in the style and look of Lotus.
For Erin, Lotus has been more than just a shop, it has been a new beginning. As Lotus means “new beginning,” the success of the shop has been symbolic of the fresh start she was hoping for. She thanks the encouragement and support from her family and friends, as well as loyal customers and other local business owners for Lotus becoming what it is today.
Erin likes to start her day at Lotus by checking her email and grabbing a coffee from Nonno’s. The shop is open 7 days a week, so most days you will find Erin there, but her mom, Jane, is occasionally there to offer a helping hand. When Erin isn’t running the shop floor, she is always on the hunt for new clothing and jewelry pieces to offer at Lotus. Erin says,
“When buying for Lotus, I look for well made clothing from both well known designers, to small up and coming designers. I don’t purchase any clothing through catalogs or emailed line sheets, as I like to see everything up close and feel the fabrics. I purchase items I’m hoping customers will grab out of their closets on a regular basis and feel great wearing them.”
As for what can be expected of Lotus in the future, Erin says she is one to live more in the present. She thinks she might want to open another Lotus one day, maybe near the beach, but is perfectly content for the moment with her small shop in Doylestown, as she loves the town and the people in it.
Make sure the next time you’re in town, to go and introduce yourself to Erin and to look out for some SCJ jewelry at Lotus! The shop is located at:
8 East State St
Doylestown, PA 18901
In the meantime, you can check out her shop here!

I wanted to introduce myself to the SCJ community, since I’ll be sticking around for awhile and I hope to get to know you all better in time. So, here’s just a little bit about me:
Your name is also Sarah?
Yes it is! I know, confusing right? But my name isn’t spelled with an “h” at the end, so you can tell the difference that way.
What’s your background?
Well, I’ve lived Pennsylvania most of my life and I grew up in a suburb a little outside of Philadelphia. I am 20, but will be turning 21 very soon and I have only a year left of college to finish. I attend the Fox School of Business at Temple University, where I study Marketing and after I graduate I hope to continue build a career in brand management for myself.
What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is actually a toss up between purple and green. I’ve loved purple since I was a little girl, so much so that my room growing up was covered in purple everything, from my shag rug to my closet door knobs, you name it. But the older I get, the more I love green and lean more toward it.
What is your favorite food?
I don’t think I could ever pick a favorite meal since eating is one of my favorite things to do and I am always in the mood to try different things, but some of my favorite snacks are dark chocolate and all types of cheese. Not necessarily together, but I wouldn’t object.
What is something interesting about you that most people don’t know?
I am a skincare fanatic! I love trying new skincare products, mainly Asian beauty ones, and I love to take care of my skin. I enjoy it so much that I even started a blog with a friend of mine, where we talk about our experiences with products and we review them. Taking care of my skin makes me feel more confident in myself and I consider it an important part of my daily health routine.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
One of the top places on my list is South Korea. Since I really enjoy skincare and most of my skincare products come from there, I have come to learn a great deal about Korean culture and I have come to want to learn even more. I think it would be wonderful place to visit, and I hope I can do so in the near future! One of the other places I would love to visit is New Zealand. It is has an absolutely stunning landscape, and as a Lord of the Rings fan, I would love to visit Hobbiton.
And lastly, what do you do at SCJ?
At SCJ I am the Markerting Intern, so I help out with all of the social media, website maintenance, creation of the linesheet, and various other tasks. I am here to learn, but also to help and so far working at SCJ has been a wonderful experience! During the two months that I have been at SCJ, I feel as if I have already gained invaluable experience and had the opportunity to work with many wonderful individuals. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better internship and I look forward to continuing to help SCJ grow!
Thank you for taking the time to meet me and if you want to get to know me a little better, or keep up with what I am doing, you can check out my blog here!
